Top GOP Senators Demand Accountability Following New Orleans Law Enforcement Failures

In the wake of a recent terror attack in New Orleans, leading Republican senators have voiced strong criticism of the current leadership within the U.S. law enforcement community, particularly targeting the FBI. Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Senator Bill Cassidy (R-La.) emphasized the need for significant reforms during their appearances on “Meet the Press” and “Fox News Sunday,” respectively.

Senator Thune expressed a deep concern over the public’s diminishing trust in the FBI, stating, “The FBI is an agency that I think is in need of reform, and it needs a good makeover, so to speak, and probably a good amount of housecleaning when it comes to the perception the American people have of it and these institutions that the American people need to have confidence and trust in.”

He also supported President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for FBI leadership, Kash Patel, highlighting Patel’s understanding of the agency’s mission.

Echoing Thune’s sentiments, Senator Cassidy called for accountability, noting the failure in deploying adequate security measures in New Orleans that could have potentially prevented the deadly truck attack. He remarked, “There has to be leadership at the top. And if the leadership failed, as you describe it, then absolutely there has to be consequences. Period. End of story.”

He specifically pointed to the New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick, suggesting she should be replaced if a thorough review confirms leadership lapses.

The criticisms come after the FBI initially mischaracterized the New Orleans attack as not terror-related, only to correct their stance later and launch a terrorism investigation linked to ISIS. This incident, coupled with the FBI’s handling of evidence and public statements, has fueled discussions about the agency’s competence and integrity.

The senators’ comments are part of a broader push by Trump’s allies for a restructuring within the FBI, emphasizing the need for a no-fail mission approach as Americans’ lives are at stake. The discourse around these failures has also sparked debates on social media and among political commentators, with some questioning the impact of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies on law enforcement effectiveness.

These calls for reform and accountability are set against the backdrop of an impending transition of power, with Trump’s nominations, including that of Kash Patel, expected to go through Senate confirmation in the coming weeks. The urgency for reform is seen as crucial not only for restoring public trust but also for ensuring national security in an increasingly volatile global landscape.

Neither one of those senators demanded any accountability for the FBI created January 6th false flag or the attempts to frame Trump as a Russia agent.

They are merely posturing to voters in their state.

There were ‘demands for accountability’ after Katrina, too. New Orleans was corrupt when Andrew Jackson ran it and so it still is today….run by Democrats.
