The January 6 narrative was crafted to accomplish two things. First, they wanted to prevent President Donald Trump from ever returning to the Oval Office. Second, they wanted to send a message to conservative, patriotic protesters that if they get out of line they will be imprisoned.
They accomplished the second goal to some extent for a while but that faded. As for their primary goal, they failed.
