Legendary Hollywood actor James Woods, whose home is in danger from the fires, also stated a major insurance company canceled all policies in his neighborhood “about four months ago.”

Speaking with the media, a local woman said her 90-year-old parents “got canceled from their fire insurance,” blaming the state of California for leaving taxpaying citizens without coverage.

“They’ve lived in this house for 75 years and they’ve had the same insurance and these insurance people decided to cancel their fire,” she said. “And we’re going through this and they have no fire insurance, so thank you California insurance companies supporting residents who pay taxes and love California. And they wonder why people leave California.”

White House officials have said that Biden plans to issue additional pardons and commutations before his term ends.

Preemptive pardons would differ from those Biden has already issued and those issued by other presidents in their final days in office. They would protect people from prosecution for charges that have not yet been brought.

It’s also not shocking that Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) made this known before Mr. Trump took office.

To Democrats, abusing his office is merely standing in it. But this isn’t like the first Trump presidency. Trump has a mandate: he won the popular vote and the Electoral College. The Left has done everything and anything to stop this man—all actions have failed. Restorative justice practices replace traditional punitive measures like suspensions with dialogue-driven conflict resolution. The goal is admirable: reduce disciplinary disparities and create a more equitable environment. Yet, in practice, RJP often falters.

The inconsistency in implementing restorative practices undermines their intended impact. Teachers frequently report feeling unsupported when dealing with persistent misbehavior, as these practices can blur the lines of authority. Worse, replacing traditional discipline with restorative measures can embolden disruptive students, reducing the deterrence for poor behavior and jeopardizing classroom safety. […]

That’s about as sincere as Meta’s PR blitz got, with Zuckerberg pointing the finger at pretty much everybody — legacy media, “complex” and “automated systems,” “filters,” political “movements,” the state of California, the U.S. government, experts, and third-party fact-checkers — except himself.

“The problem with complex systems is they make mistakes,” Zuckerberg apologized rationalized in a video message. “After Trump first got elected in 2016, the legacy media wrote nonstop about how misinformation was a threat to democracy. We tried in good faith to address those concerns without becoming the arbiters of truth. But the fact-checkers have just been too politically biased.”

Many conservatives seem tickled at the thought of the second coming of Elon, savior of free speech. But color me more skeptical and enraged. The woman, known since 2006 only as Jane Doe, has been identified as Darylnn Washington, thanks to advanced DNA testing, police said.

William Pope “is authorized to travel to Washington, D.C. from January 19, 2025, through January 21, 2025, for the Presidential Inauguration,” U.S. District Judge Rudolph Contreras said in a one-page order.

Pope, under a 2021 order, had been barred from traveling to Washington except for court hearings, although he had previously received exceptions to view video footage from Jan. 6 that was made available by Congress for in-person viewing, and for an evidentiary tour of the U.S. Capitol.

Pope is facing charges including disorderly conduct in a Capitol building.

In a recent motion for permission to attend Trump’s inauguration, Pope—who is representing himself—said he had been invited to attend the event on Jan. 20 and that he would be “entirely peaceful” if he were allowed to go.

Federal prosecutors in response said that Pope “presents a danger to the D.C. community, including the very law enforcement officers who defended the Capitol on January 6, 2021 and continue to serve the citizens of the District.”

They added later: “Allowing William Pope to return to Washington, D.C., specifically the Capitol building, could put him face to face with the officers that he resisted four years ago and place him in the same circumstance in which he already demonstrated a disregard for the law.”

Pope in a reply to the response noted that he was not charged with assault and that in his two visits to Washington since being charged, he had “nothing but positive interactions with Capitol Police.”

Contreras in his order said that he was granting Pope’s motion in part because Pope had not been charged with assault or vandalism-related charges.

At least one other defendant has been granted permission to attend Trump’s swearing-in. U.S. District Judge previously approved a request from defendant Eric Lee Peterson.
