Carlos Jose Abreu, a 45-year-old national from the Dominican Republic, faces charges of “impersonating a United States citizen when registering to vote and when voting in a federal election,” according to a Department of Justice press release. He also faces a charge for unlawful possession of a firearm.

“If convicted on the voter fraud and gun charges, Abreu faces up to 15 years in federal prison,” the release reads. “He is also subject to deportation.”

Abreu, of Broward County, Florida, allegedly used the stolen identity of an American to register to vote in September 2020 and to vote in November 2022, the release said. He had “been living in the United States under the assumed identity of the American citizen victim for about 18 years.”

The man has lived in America ever since he first entered illegally close to 20 years ago, according to the release. New Jersey issued an arrest warrant for Abreu in 2007 for charges of kidnapping, criminal restraint, endangering a child, and sexual assault. Weeks after the 2024 election, The Federalist’s John Daniel Davidson predicted in these pages that the biggest impediment to President Donald Trump’s agenda wouldn’t be Democrats, “but establishment Republicans.” Not even a month into Trump’s presidency, Davidson’s forecast has come true in the form of Florida’s GOP-controlled legislature.

Throughout the past several weeks, Gov. Ron DeSantis has been embroiled in a fight with his party’s refusal to advance legislation instrumental in furthering the Trump administration’s deportation of illegal aliens. Wanting to assist the president in his efforts, DeSantis called for a special session of the legislature earlier this month to pass enforcement measures that would increase penalties for illegals, enhance cooperation between local and state authorities with federal immigration authorities, and more.

Florida’s GOP legislative leadership could have easily concurred with the governor and acted to fulfill the “America First” mandate Floridians and Americans writ large voted for. Instead, they’ve taken it upon themselves to play political games over the matter.

Little has enraged football fans quite like the most recent AFC Championship game, in which a pair of questionable calls propelled the Kansas City Chiefs to their third straight Super Bowl. Conspiracy theories and jokes about a rigged NFL abound after years of suspicion that the league orders its referees to give the Chiefs every call.

This is nonsense, of course, but imagine if an email inviting high-profile Chiefs fans to a secret meeting with head coach Andy Reid, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, his head of officiating, and Taylor Swift was uncovered. And imagine if the subject line of that email was “Chance to put the Super Bowl in play in 2025.”

Now imagine that email was real, and it wasn’t about rigging football games, but congressional elections. That’s exactly what’s going on in Wisconsin, where the state Democrat Party is brazenly using this April’s State Supreme Court race to gerrymander Republican Wisconsin Representatives Bryan Steil and Derrick Van Orden right out of their seats in the 2026 midterms.

In a memo issued Wednesday, Defense Travel Management Office Deputy Director Sarah Moore notified the Pentagon’s Military Advisory Panel that the Biden administration’s policy of effectively using public funds to reimburse service members who traveled to states with pro-abortion laws to terminate their pregnancy is no longer in effect. The directive — which took effect Tuesday — was issued in compliance with President Trump’s executive order reaffirming the Hyde Amendment and “similar laws that prevent Federal funding of elective abortion.”

The 2023 policy became a major flashpoint in Congress and the military bureaucracy. To protest the Biden administration’s directive, Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., initiated a months-long hold on President Biden’s Pentagon promotions, using his position on the Senate Armed Services Committee to force the body to vote on each nomination one at a time rather than “en masse.”

Alabama’s senior senator endured dishonest attacks from Democrats and Biden military appointees, who baselessly claimed his holds jeopardized military readiness and national security. Notably, many of these same actors were silent when it was revealed that then-Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin went MIA last year and declined to notify the American people and relevant authorities, including Biden, the White House, and Congress.

Former FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) Timothy Thibault, who was fired for violating the Hatch Act after Grassley exposed his public anti-Trump statements, authored the initial language for “Arctic Frost,” the investigation that would become former Special Counsel Jack Smith’s lawfare case against Trump over the 2020 election.

“Thibault took this action despite being unauthorized to open criminal investigations in his ASAC role,” a joint press release from the senators stated. They also said the Justice Department and FBI had a “plot to pin Trump.”

The investigation was then advanced by Justice Department Public Integrity Sector official Richard Pilger, former head of the Election Crimes Branch, who was also the subject of a Grassley report stating he “undermined the department’s election-related efforts.”

Big Tech claims to have seen the light, so why is Amazon still banning Ryan Anderson’s book?

The vibes have shifted, and Big Tech is shifting with them. Elon Musk took the lead (and the risks) in moving to the right, but other tech overlords are following — cozying up to Trump, ditching DEI, and promising to ease up on censoring conservatives. Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg has made anti-woke moves, and Jeff Bezos of Amazon conspicuously restrained The Washington Post (which he currently owns) from endorsing Kamala Harris. And there are rewards; these tech titans were “given prime positions at Donald Trump’s inauguration.”

But if Bezos is serious about serving all Americans, rather than a small cadre of woke activists, then, again, why hasn’t Amazon lifted the ban on Anderson’s 2018 book, When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment?

Anderson’s book was prophetic; he calmly and compassionately explained the evils of gender ideology back when most people were still trying to wrap their minds around Bruce becoming Caitlyn. However, his book was also prophetic in that taking a stand against gender ideology was risky. Not only did both The Washington Post and The New York Times take extremely dishonest shots at Anderson by lying about his book, but few allies had his back. Most Republican politicians were afraid of the issue because they thought that the same forces that had propelled same-sex marriage to victory would quickly do the same for the trans agenda. […]

Friday’s Senate confirmation of Pete Hegseth to lead the Pentagon was a major win for those hopeful that a second Trump administration will bring transformational change to the federal government. But the uncertainty over whether the Senate GOP would approve his nomination inadvertently shined a light on a glaring problem with the Republican Party.

Until the moment Vice President J.D. Vance cast the tie-breaking vote in his favor, it was virtually unknown whether Hegseth had the votes necessary to become America’s next secretary of defense. The Wall Street Journal reported that Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C. — who previously pledged to support Hegseth and President Donald Trump’s other nominees — was seemingly getting cold feet on voting to confirm the Army veteran ahead of Friday night’s confirmation vote.

With all Democrats expected to vote in opposition, Hegseth could only afford to lose three GOP votes. At that point, Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, had already announced their respective intent to oppose Hegseth, and Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., had given no indication of which way he would vote.

Assuming McConnell sided with Collins and Murkowski, a “no” vote from Tillis would have sunk Hegseth’s confirmation. […]

President Donald Trump said during his inaugural address that he would invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to protect Americans from “foreign gangs and criminal networks.” The act allows the president to deport foreigners of an enemy nation. But Omar condemned the act as “un-American.” Yes, a Somali immigrant is telling Americans that one of America’s founders, John Adams, was acting in a way that was “un-American.”

Omar also claimed Trump’s immigration agenda is “a threat to immigrants” and that we must “restore basic humanity to our immigration system.”

Here’s the thing, however: Being “American” isn’t about making foreigners feel comfortable — it’s about protecting our sovereignty, our values, and our people. But Omar’s remarks prove she has no grasp of what it means to be “American” and therefore should be disqualified from holding American office.

But why does Omar not understand what it actually means to be American? Because she’s not an American. She’s a citizen of America, but her complete and total allegiance will never be just to America. Congress first passed the FACE Act in 1994. It was at the direction of President Joe Biden after the Supreme Court’s 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson decision nearly two decades later, however, that the FBI and Department of Justice started to arrest and hand down uncharacteristically harsh sentences to dozens of people, many Christians, who peacefully protested ending life in the womb.

“Americans just spent the last four years being targeted by a weaponized justice system. The FACE Act was one of the primary weapons of abuse — being used to politically target, arrest, and jail pro-life Americans for speaking out and standing up for life,” Roy said in a statement.

Former FBI Director Christopher Wray told Congress during a House Judiciary Committee hearing in July 2024 that his agency did not single out those who made their opposition to abortion known. As Roy noted, however, “97% of FACE Act prosecutions from 1994-2024 were against pro-life Americans.”

Let’s face it, a lot of Trump Derangement Syndrome sufferers believed the 45th president would be in prison by Jan. 20, 2025, a day Trump in his inaugural address — for so many reasons — declared as “Liberation Day.” Plenty of MAGA conservatives rightly worried, too, that this great drainer of the swamp, the disrupter of the deep state, wouldn’t make it to this moment.

But by the grace of God and a fragment of an inch, Donald Trump stood before his fellow Americans and raised his right hand to once again “solemnly swear to faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States.” Political redemption and the sweet, sweet revenge of success? Sure. The hand of providence? Trump absolutely believes so, and so do many of his supporters.
