Octavia Wells, 41, allegedly thought she was texting one of her contacts to purchase drugs before she left town to go to rehab.

‘Unknown to Octavia, she had accidentally reached the phone of a narcotics investigator at the Bay County Sheriff’s Office with her text message.’

The New York Post reported that Wells messaged one of her contacts labeled “PJ,” and offered to pay $45 for fentanyl on New Year’s Eve.

The field hockey governing body has seemingly created a clever workaround, implementing a “female” category and an “open” category but no category for men.

This effectively forces all biological men into the open division to ensure the women’s sport is unaffected.

“England Hockey recognises that this is an evolving landscape of both policy and research and that societal attitudes are ever-changing,” England Hockey said in a press release.

“Based on the current available evidence and that hockey requires the physical capabilities of strength, endurance, speed, and acceleration as key factors for success, hockey is considered a gender-affected sport,” the governing body admitted. “Based on this evidence (which can be found in the policy), we have determined that the Trans and Non-Binary Participation Policy should restrict trans participation in order to secure fair competition.” […]

Republican Rep. Virginia Foxx of North Carolina was reportedly bleeding after the fall Friday but was being attended to by medical personnel.

The spill came after Foxx congratulated Rep. Mike Johnson of Louisiana for successfully winning a vote to be speaker of the House for President-elect Donald Trump’s second term.

“Lots of blood but officer tells me she’s okay as press is cleared from area. She is conscious/ talking,” said ABC reporter John Parkinson.

Other than the nagging worry that I was wrong, I was surprised at how little this inconvenienced me. Not only do most of my day-to-day transactions not require cash, plastic cards are also rarely needed. Just a wave of my phone suffices.

I suppose some ‘junk silver’ (US coins from 1964 or earlier, when they contained 90% silver) would come in handy, but everything in my loose change jar is of a newer vintage.
